I tried to get anything but pitta (it didn't work)

Confession: on Sunday morning I woke up, came downstairs, sat at my computer, and thought, "I should probably come up with a new way to bring people to my website" because #pitta.

And I'm tired of the generic wellness freebies, download this guide, take this quiz to find your dosha. I wanted something with a little more flavor, something that felt like me.

Then it hit me. I'd be recording our annual Hallmark Christmas preview episode for Hallmark Mysteries & More, and I thought: what if I made a quiz that matches your energy to a Hallmark movie night?

So I did. It's called Your Hallmark Movie Night, Ayurveda Style. Answer a few questions and you'll get a movie lineup, an Ayurvedic drink to make, and one easy Ayurveda habit to try while you watch.

I know yoga, Ayurveda, and Hallmark movies on paper, it might seem strange. But these are two of my favorite parts of my life, and I'd love for you to see more sides of me. (My favorite artist is Michael Bolton, so you already know I contain multitudes.)

Of course, I took the quiz myself and tried to get anything but pitta.

Spoiler: I got pitta.

My assignment was to watch a movie with no phone and no multitasking, which is the hardest thing you can ask of a pitta. I put my phone and iPad on their chargers and just watched and relaxed with my red light therapy on my calves.

There's no funnel here with this quiz because I'm also sick of the endless funnel emails you get when you join someones list. Instead you get your results, and that's it.

Hallmark's Christmas movies start October 16th, so you have a little time to get ready for the new season.

If you want the full story, I told it on this week's episode of the Peaceful Power Podcast: Permission to Watch the Hallmark Movie.

Let me know what you get. I'm really curious and if you like you're movie selections!!

Slow Down, Tune In,
Andrea

Prana Vayus

For the past two years, I made a quiet vow to devote my daily living and yoga teaching to the vayus which are the five sacred movements of life force energy. What started as curiosity became a full-bodied devotion, completely by accident. Each class, I explored one vayu more deeply. Noticing how it showed up in my breath, my teaching, my relationships, even my rest. I began weaving the vayus into everything I offered on the mat with my students, and off the mat in my daily rituals, family...

Reader, what's the sweet treat you keep reaching for even when it's keeping you stuck? A few weeks I taught a yin yoga class at our new studio. The theme was non-attachment/aparigraha, one of yoga's most quietly radical teachings. I told the story of Hanuman and the coconut trap: a hollowed-out coconut filled with treats, with a hole just big enough to fit a hand inside. The monkey reaches in, grabs the treat, and then can't pull his fist back out. He's not trapped by the coconut. He's...

As we transition from Spring to Summer schedules change, routines shift and time seems to fly especially if you live in a cold weather state, Reader. Well the summer can feel so fleeting, Ayurveda has a few practices to help you stay grounded and cool all season long. Self-care is a key tool for the pitta dosha. Here are 3 self-care ideas for the summer if one jumps out to you, start there. If none take a breath, close your eyes and ask yourself what does my body crave this summer for...
